Commitment to NSPCC values and representing NSPCC in the role and beyond Passionate about helping young people with their feelings of loneliness. Great communication skills, and ability to build rapport. Patient, empathetic and perceptive Can work effectively through a set model of support. Emotional resilience Confident working from home whilst being supported remotely Technically competent /Good I.T skills

What is in it for you

Our new NSPCC service, Building Connections, has launched. This online service empowers young people to tackle loneliness and has been developed to help young people cope. This is a ‘volunteer from home’ service that supports children and young people who are experiencing loneliness.  As a Volunteer Befriender you will be matched with a young person, online through a text based messaging service to support them to develop skills to manage their emotions around loneliness, build their confidence, self-esteem and support them to find new ways to cope. You will receive full training and support. Additionally we celebrate your milestones which you can also share on social media. You will have access to discussion groups and see all of the opportunities available, including voluntary and paid positions. You will receive ongoing training and development opportunities, including access to our platform ‘The Academy’ which provides access to a wide range of online learning opportunities. You will be part of a team, making a difference to the lives of children and young people. After 1 year of volunteering, we can provide references for employers
