Volunteer Administrator

Choice In Hackney

We are a small user-led disability advocacy charity in Hoxton, looking for a volunteer to assist with the running of the office for 1 day a week.

Detailed Description

Do you have a free weekday to help us with administration in our Hoxton office? We are looking for a volunteer who’s available for 5 hours a week to work either in our office or remotely. We pay out-of-pocket expenses, including lunch and travel. Administrative tasks including (but not limited to) the following: Reception: dealing with enquiries, answering telephone, greeting service users Administration: dealing with post, photocopying, faxing, filing, updating database Project assistance: taking referrals, booking meetings, writing up notes, helping with mail-outs, supporting staff as and when required

Why these skills are required

This is a list of the qualities, skills and knowledge we are looking for in a Volunteer Administrator. Please don’t be put off by this list of requirements – some of the skills and knowledge needed for the role can be learned during the induction period. • Good communication skills: listening, talking, writing • Available to commit to the project for a minimum of 3 months • Some knowledge of the barriers faced by disabled people and a commitment to equality • Ability to recognise own limitations and ask for help when needed • Ability to understand and follow relevant policies and procedures e.g. confidentiality, health and safety, boundaries • Basic IT skills, mainly Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) • Ability to act on own initiative within the Project’s guidelines

The office is well supported by buses and is located by Old Street Underground and Hoxton Overground Station. However the role is available as remote working.
