Mentor/Coach for a Refugee

WHEAT Mentor Support Trust

The role will be providing mentor support to an asylum seeker or a refugee to integrate fully into the UK society by gaining volunteering, language learning, further and higher education, employment including self-employment opportunities.

Detailed Description

Tigrayan Refugees Integration Project There are a variety of tasks for volunteers to do. We have listed some of them below. These tasks will be shared by the volunteers and we are happy to discuss which suit your skills and availability. § Research and explore career option for the mentee § Discuss the mentee’s career aspirations and options § Encourage discussion about the mentee’s ambitions and hopes in the future § Assist in identifying skills, abilities and qualities § Help device an action plan, monitor and review progress against the targets that have been agreed between the mentor and the mentee § Help build confidence and assist in addressing weaknesses § Offer information about graduate recruitment schemes § Assist in arranging and shadowing opportunities § Provide advice about job applications and compiling a CV and provide opportunities to develop their interview skills § Give an insight into a particular area of employment/sector § provide opportunities for the mentee to develop and learn new skills The asylum seeker is required to obtain immigration status to gain access to further/higher education and employment.
