BlindAid are seeking volunteers to support blind and visually impaired people attending our Camden Community Project. Volunteers will have responsibility for greeting and helping to guide Service Users around the facility, assisting service users during classes and liaising with the Community Project Manager
The role BlindAid are running a community project, offering a wide variety of support programmes (including accessible IT, safe cooking/healthy eating and Yoga) for blind and visually impaired people. The project is based at the St Pancras and Somers Town Living Centre, NW1 1DF. The project runs on Fridays between 10am – 3pm. Volunteers will have responsibility for greeting and helping to guide Service Users around the facility, assisting service users during classes and liaising with the Community Project Manager. Sighted guide training will be provided by BlindAid.

This role is an excellent opportunity to support blind and visually impaired people learn new skills, make social connections and become more independent. As a small charity we value each and every one of our volunteers and the contribution they make to our charity. BlindAid provides a comprehensive training package for all volunteers, including visual impairment awareness and guide training. The project is a vibrant, welcoming and fun environment!

The St Pancras and Somers Town Living Centre 2 Ossulston Street Camden London
Main entrance Our main entrance is on Ossulston Street. By tube The nearest tube station is Kings Cross St Pancras on the Northern, Piccadilly, Victoria, Hammersmith & City, District and Circle lines. The centre is approximately ten minutes’ walk from the station. Use the Transport for London Journey Planner to find the quickest route to the centre. By bus The centre is reached by 14 bus routes. The routes are numbers 10, 17, 30, 45, 46, 59, 63, 73, 91, 205, 214, 259, 390 and 476. For an interactive map of their destinations click here. By bicycle The King’s Cross Cycle App shows public cycle parking and cycle hire stations as well all the cycle initiatives in the area. You can also see cycle parking and hire stations on the map. There are now two Santander Cycle docking stations with over 50 bikes. The Santander bikes are located on Goods Way (next to the zebra crossing) and Handyside Street (next to the Platform Theatre). By car We do not have parking facilities on-site and parking around the centre is limited. We encourage you to take public transport wherever possible. Disabled parking There are a number of parking spaces near the centre for Blue Badge holders.
